In its continuing efforts to ensure that it human resources are adequate and prepared to meet the regulatory challenges of a dynamic financial services industry, the Financial Services Commission announces the establishment of a Human Resources Department, the appoint of a new board member and three heads of departments, the promotion of 11 members of staff and the confirmation to the permanent staff of five temporary staff. These staff changes took effect from 1 October 2016.

The Turks and Caicos Islands Financial Services Commission ("Commission") met today with 20 leading reinsurance experts to elicit their views on proposed improvements to the Islands’ regulatory regime and explore how TCI may remain the domicile of choice of producer affiliated reinsurance companies. Turks and Caicos ("TCI") regulates several thousand such companies, which pay tax in the United States and participate in closely regulated insurance programs that protect U.S. consumers.

The Bahamas Institute of Financial Services (BIFS) in collaboration with the Turks and Caicos Financial Services Commission (TCFSC) facilitated a three-day seminar on the fundamentals of risk management, compliance, corporate governance and anti-money laundering.

The Financial Services Commission announced today that it has been accepted as a full member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

The TCI Financial Services Commission has confirmed that the Panamanian law firm at the centre of the Panama Papers scandal, Mossack Fonseca, is not licensed and does not operate as a corporate service provider in the TCI.

The FSC announced today that The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has invited Ms Symadia Ingham, Senior Trademarks & Patents Administrator at the Commission to participate in a three week trade mark and designs examiner training programme in Cardiff, UK.

A three day seminar providing an in depth introduction to Insurance & Basic Underwriting Concepts is to take place in Providenciales from 23rd to 25th November 2015. This seminar, facilitated by The TCI Financial Services Commission in partnership with the Insurance Institute of Barbados will take twenty professionals from TCI Domestic Insurance Industry through three days of interactive training sessions.
