The Commission lends support as an interested stakeholder in the protection of the integrity of the financial services system to national and international initiatives which are not viewed as part of the Commission’s core function.
In doing so, the Commission regularly cooperates with domestic authorities such as the Attorney General’s Chambers, the Financial Intelligence Agency, the Royal Turks and Caicos Police Force, the Financial Transactions Information Unit within the Ministry of Finance and the Integrity Commission in meeting obligations set out by other domestic legislation.
As part of its mandate, the Commission has a duty to cooperate. Accordingly, the Commission is required to take steps that it considers appropriate to cooperate with foreign regulatory authorities, competent authorities acting pursuant to an enactment or other persons in or outside of the Turks and Caicos Islands in relation n to the prevention or detection of financial crime.
