Director, AML Supervision
Mr. Smith worked in the private sector as a Trust and Estate Practitioner and Compliance Professional before becoming a regulator of the TCI financial services sector. He is a senior, longstanding, qualified and experienced member of the AML Supervision Department.
Mr. Smith has previously served as the Acting Director of the Department in 2019 and brings over sixteen years of experience to the position. He has made numerous contributions to the Turks and Caicos Islands’ AML/CFT regulatory framework, including the supervision of financial institutions, designated non-financial businesses and professions and non-profit organisations.
Mr. Smith has qualifications in law, international trust management and AML/CFT compliance. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and a trained Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) country assessor. Tamiko is also a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He is a past Chairman of the Turks and Caicos Islands branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, having been elected to serve subsequent terms.
